Week 4

This week we learned about the Holy Spirit and the Gifts and Fruits of the Spirit.
Holy Spirit
"Knowing about the truth and knowing the truth is a big differences!" This statement was really powerful I feel like so often people learn about different things but they don't but what they learn into practice. This was just another thing that really made me want to work on putting everything I learn about his into my heart and not just my head.
The HOLY Spirit  is GOD! Holy Spirit is a person and not an it. He has a will. We can grieve the Holy Spirit because he has emotions. We can make him happy or sad. This was really interesting for me to hear because I feel like a lot of the time I think of the Holy Spirit as an it I wouldn't think about making the Holy Spirit sad just Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is not just a feeling or and experience but he's God and he promises to be with you!
Living with the Holy Spirit is exciting!!!! He wants to give us a vision! When the Holy Spirit comes he brings things we don't understand. He also brings life, provision, vision and direction.
We know things are from the Holy Spirit if it brings LIFE! We need to be filled with revelation that the plans God has for us are GOOD ones!
"We are not created to live carefully and die carefully"
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit it over flows and leaves drops everywhere. There is a BIG difference from being a Christian and being a Holy Spirit filled Christian.
Gifts and Fruits of the Spirit
A gift is not something you earn. I really liked that she said that and enjoyed her illustration.
Fruits of the Spirt
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control
The fruit helps you recognize what the tree is with out it is harder just like in the Christian walk! I LOVED this!
Memory Verse
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Other Things This Week

Week 3

01/23/ 12 - 01/27/ 12
Character and Nature of God
I found it very interesting that the Bible doesn’t try and prove the existence of God. From Genesis 3 - Revelation 21 is all about redemption.
God is a gracious God and we need to let that characteristic show through us. The better we know God the more peaceful you will be in hard situations.
God sees and knows everything we do! He understands better than we can about what we are going through!!
God calls himself MY provider! I love that!
The Devil won’t attack your strong points!!! That was such a good reminder for me.
God is Love, Anger, Just/Righteous, Holy and Compassionate. He has all these characteristics at the same time he doesn’t ever just have one of them. I thought this was just a good point and good for me to see because sometimes I get so caught up in one or two of the characteristics and don’t fully comprehend or appreciate God for ALL his attributes.
When God calls you to do something HE WILL MAKE THE WAY!!!
Holy Spirit Speaks Through
  1. Written Scripture - 2 Peter 1:19-21
  2. Leading Us Internally - Romans 8:16
  3. Leading Us Externally - Acts 16:6-7, Genesis 24:26-27
  4. Words and Sentences - Acts 8:27-29, 10:19-31
  5. Others Prophetically - Acts 111:27-28, 6:8-10, 21:9-11
  6. Holy Spirit Reveals - Ephesians 3:1-6, 1 Corinthians 12:8, 2:9-10
  7. Dreams and Visions
Praying “In The Name Of Jesus” makes a difference.
We are like Simba in The Lion King.
We don’t have a big roar but are daddy behind us does!
Where we are weak God is strong.
Jesus goes before us! He is there before we pray, have a quiet time or evangelize.
Persist in prayer! God’s will is for break through! Pray with AUTHORITY!!! Our prayers have POWER!!!
It’s not our job to convert people! Our purpose is to do the will of the Holy Spirit!
Outreach
Outreach was great! It was awesome to just be able to build fellowship with the teenagers in the town! I think we were really able to show Christians in a good light just by hanging out and talking with them and not condemning them but showing Jesus’s LOVE.
Summery
This week was very interesting! I felt like I learned a lot of things I didn’t know about the Holy Spirit and healing! I am so excited to see what the Holy Spirit has to say to me. The lecture has really encouraged and challenged me to take time to sit and listen to what he has to say.
The Memory Verse
Psalms 145:8-9
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he as compassion on all he has made.
Other Things This Week
With our free time I went with two of the girls from my DTS to Birmingham. We had a great time sight seeing!

Some cool shopping building!

St. Martins church...

Birmingham Museum

 Fun in Birmingham!

Cool light thing under a bridge...

 Burgers for dinner! YAY!!!

Day of fun is over...

Week 2

Okay so it’s time for catch up! Here is an overview of whats been going on since the second week I have been here. Some of what I am going to write is how I wrote things in my lecture notes.
01/16/12 - 01/20/12
Relationships
This week we had lectures on Relationships. We also had our first outreach!
The speaker challenged us to “instead of KNOWING about God you need to KNOW God!”
We learned that most of the problems in the world come from poor and broken relationships. To many lonely people with relationships in the world.
Good Relationships- A little bit of Heaven on earth
Bad Relationships- A little bit of Hell on earth

Parents
Family should be a loving team! Supporting, praying, having fun, laughing, crying together. The Devil want’s to destroy this make the family like a bunch of little islands each doing their own thing.
How to Honor Your Parents
  1. Speak well in and out of their presents
  2. Seek out their counsel and advice
  3. Open up to them about what you are thinking and going through
  4. Seek opportunities at home to help around the house
  5. Demonstrate love in an appropriate way
  6. Visit regularly, phone letter
  7. Pray
Friendship
God wants us to have friendships. He also wants to be are friend- philio
You can be totally open and honest with God cause he’s your friend. You can never catch him on a bad day!
Ingredients Of A Good Friendship
  1. Love - Most rugged
  2. Trust - Most fragile
  3. Honor & Respect - Most neglected
  4. Knowledge & Understanding - Takes longest
To build relationships some people need to talk others need to listen!
God gave us two ears and one mouth.
Guy Girl
Singleness is a wonderful place to be but with a good group of friends.
People who PRAY together STAY together!
The analogy on being equally yoked and how it’s easier to pull someone off the table than on was a really good way to explain it. Also before you go out with someone or get in a serious relationship you should  get good counsel. I thought that “love is blind but the neighbors ain’t” was a really funny quote.
NEED COMMITMENT! Have the mind set that marriage is FOR LIFE!!!!
Don’t have to have the emotion of love to still be committed in love.
Outreach
On Thursday we had our first outreach. We sat and prayed to see where the Lord wanted us to go then we followed where we thought he was leading. It was a great start to feeling more comfortable with sharing Jesus with others.
Summery
I LOVED this week! Very informative and the speaker was GREAT! You could really see the Holy Spirit in him!
How did the relationships week relate to me...
Relationships are something I absolutely LOVE!!!!! I love spending time with people getting to hear their stories and just hanging out! I have realized though that I need to make sure that I make my relationship with Christ my top priority and all the time I love spending building relationships with others will fall into place after that!
The Memory Verse
Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Break time

I realized today how easily I can post updated from my phone so I am going to try and be better about more updates. Everyday at about 11:00am we have a tea break where everyone on base comes to hang out and fellowship with each other.

This week we are learning about Spiritual Warfare! It is extremely interesting! I am learning a lot of things I never knew or realized about it! It's very eye opening!

First Full Week

The Kings Lodge
Built in 1870

So I have been here a week so far and it has been AMAZING! I love all the girls on my team and the two guys are great as well! We are all getting along and bonding really well.
Our team verse is Psalm 23

          1 The LORD is my shepherd;

I have all that I need.
          2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
          3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
             bringing honor to his name.
          4 Even when I walk
             through the darkest valley,[a]
             I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
             Your rod and your staff
             protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
             My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the LORD
             forever.

Because of this we all made sheep to hang in our class room. We also had team building and we played basketball. Surprisingly we weren't that bad!

At The Kings Lodge (TKL) there is another school here called School of Biblical Studies (SBS) and they are basically reading the whole bible like three to five times in 9 months! CRAZY! They are all really nice as well.

A good amount of the staff that work at TKL live here and some of them with their family's. They are all super awesome as well! It has been so cool being able to connect with them.

So far this week we have had lectures on Quiet Times, Listening to God, Prayer, Worship and The Cross. They have been very good and I had no idea how much there was to Jesus dying on the cross. I never realized that through his death and resurrection we are able to have so much more than the AMAZING forgiveness he gave.

We learned that when Jesus died on The Cross there was an Exchange of...
  1. Forgiveness
  2. Healing
  3. Righteousness In Place Of Sin
  4. Life In Place of Death
  5. Blessing In Place Of Curse
  6. Abundance In Place Of Poverty
  7. Glory In Place Of Shame
  8. Acceptance In Place Of Rejection
  9. New Man In Place Of The Old Man
This was a super powerful topic and has really made me think.

In February or March I will be giving a sermonette to our class. If you could pray that the Lord would give me a topic to preach on that would be great.

We have had two different prayer meetings that were awesome! One of them was prophesied that there will be accelerated break through! We spent time doing intercessory and I enjoyed that very much!

I will try and do another update soon!
Till then God bless and I pray you have had an amazing new year so far!
